Wooden Figure (Hillbilly) – 55237

Hand-Carved “Hillbilly” Figure 3″ x 8″ Maurice Vanhook of Big Stone Gap, VA, began carving as a hobby after retirement. His style is evolving even today. Maurice carves primarily northern bass wood and cottonwood bark. Native cedar, butternut, buckeye, and pine knots are also used. Maurice finds woodcarving a challenging craft, but also very rewarding. He hopes his carvings are pieces that families will pass down for years- or even generations.
