The business began in 1997 as Stafford Glass of Culpepper, Virginia but was changed to Stafford Art Glass after Parker moved to the New River Valley. Once he moved, the studio expanded dramatically. There is a gallery and ample space in the studio for visitors and multiple classes and ample parking for our customers and students. The gallery showcases Parker's work but also the work of other artisans from the local area as well as some of the leading talents in the country in glass and other fine craft media. You can look at events in this gallery by going to staffordartglass.com.
Parker Stafford, the founder of the studio, began his career as a sculptor. He received his B.A. degree from Berea College in Kentucky and his M.F.A. from the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale. While he completed his degree in sculpture, Parker designed and built his first glass studio in 1997.
The studio is located in a rural picturesque area of the New River Valley. Within 6 miles of Blacksburg, the studio is well placed for taking advantage of all that the New River Valley and the county of Giles has to offer. If you'd like to plan a trip to the studio and would like to know more of what there is to do, we suggest that you visit staffordartglass.com to make the most of your stay. If you would like to take advantage of our ongoing glass blowing demonstrations, it is recommended that you contact Parker before coming to make sure he will be blowing on the day of your visit.
