Cristina Hallgren is a pen and ink artist whose work is deeply inspired by the natural world and the animals that inhabit it. Born and raised in Appalachia, Cristina has spent her life immersed in the quiet beauty of the outdoors. Nature is her sanctuary — a place of calm, connection, and reflection that continues to shape both her life and her art.
Specializing in detailed pen and ink techniques such as stippling, Cristina brings animals to life on paper with sensitivity and precision. Whether creating custom pet portraits or capturing the essence of wildlife, her drawings are filled with emotion and storytelling. Each piece honors the unique spirit of the animals she draws and the deep bond they share with the people who love them.
In 2020, after moving with her family to Virginia, Cristina faced a profound challenge when she was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration — a condition that threatened her vision and her identity as an artist. With the help of skilled doctors, she was able to preserve her sight and continue pursuing her passion. This experience brought a renewed sense of purpose to her work, a recognition of the gift of vision, and the time she now cherishes in every line and dot she draws.
Art, family, and animals are the foundation of Cristina’s life. Her work is not just a reflection of what she sees, but of what she feels — joy, love, and an abiding connection to the world around her.
