Marquetry is the creation of pictures using the natural colors, grain, and figures of wood veneer. Often described as 'quilting in wood'.
I love the incredibly varied palette provided by the more than 150 varieties of wood species from all over the world. There are times when the cutting is secondary to finding that one color, grain, or figure that conveys everything you were looking for on one particular piece of the overall work.

Dan Scott is a professional engineer by trade and a marquetry woodworker (wood veneer images) by love as a hobby.
He lives in rural Marion, VA and creates all of his pieces in his studio in the mountains.
His subjects choices are varied, from small ornaments to large landscapes.
Commissions are accepted and he can be contacted through his website, primarily selling through craft festivals or through his Facebook page 'Artistic Kindling'
