My mother taught me to sew when I was seven, and I remember stories about my great-grandmother piecing quilt tops entirely by hand. I've been quilting off and on for most of my adult life and even though hand quilting is slow work, I enjoy the process. I weave rugs, table runners, and placemats on a floor loom and I enjoy spinning and dyeing yarn by hand. I'm also a beekeeper and I make hand-dipped candles from beeswax recovered after extracting the honey.
