As I embarked on an extensive study of Fraktur, it became essential to my practice to honor the early tradition. My birth, baptismal and marriage certificates, as well as a number of non-commissioned forms, adhere to the traditional work. This includes the calligraphy, watercolor, motifs, colors, and even sizes. However, just as the early artists, I developed my own style within the tradition. Many early artists, whose work was unsigned, became recognized by their style. I do not age, copy early work or duplicate any of my work. Certificates are also available in English, but the calligraphy used is English Roundhand. I was honored as a contemporary artist with the purchase of my work by the Philadelphia Free Library, which houses the largest collection of Fraktur in the world.

Fraktur is the 18th and 19th century Pennsylvania German folk art tradition of illuminated manuscripts, which became a part of America's cultural history. Along with an extensive study of this art, my interest in calligraphy and drawing lead to the development of my own style of Fraktur within the early traditions. My ink and watercolor art includes both commissioned and non-commissioned forms. Commissioned forms include, birth, baptismal and marriage certificates. House blessings, specimens of calligraphy and design, valentines and color designs are among the non-commissioned forms of Fraktur.
