My inspirations come from the mountainous landscape. Tree images frequently appear in my work. I recently completed hiking the Appalachian Trail and my hiking journals, poems and sketches provide inspiration for drawings, prints, and ceramic pieces. I am a Professor of Art at Bluefield College where I have been teaching for 30 years. I work in several mediums including watercolor, collages, printmaking, and oils but ceramics is my first love. I share Twin Creek Studio with my wife and fellow 'Round the Mountain artisan, Linda Weatherly.
