I am a designer who enjoys recycling old things. I started using vintage silverplate flatware to create art in jewelry, (rings, earrings, bracelets), keyrings, Christmas ornaments, wind chimes and many other useful items. If you own silverplate (or silver) I can customize pieces to make a sentimental piece of jewelry to give to family members. I also make decorative cheeseplates, and use alcohol inks to create coasters, mini-landscapes, and jewelry. I am honored whenever someone appreciates my artwork and am proud to be a member of Round the Mountain.

An attorney by trade, the arts are an escape for Tamara Neo. Daughter of western landscape artist, Willard Louden, Tamara appreciates, and is skilled in multiple mediums. On display here at the Heartwood, Tamara has chosen to share her coiled fabric baskets. Taught by the preeminent Sylvia Richardson, Tamara brings a playful touch to each basket through her fabric choices, lid designs and whimsical handles.

I have been involved in instrument construction since the early 80s. I was privileged to meet Albert Hash and spent three years learning as much as I could concerning wood selection, body style, finishes, and some old time fiddle tunes. In 2005 I was invited to participate in the National Folk Festival in Richmond, VA demonstrating fiddle construction learned in Southwest VA. I have just completed my fourth luthier class for Wayne C. Henderson School of Appalachian Arts in Marion, Virginia. My students take part in an intense week of hands on instruction in fiddle construction.

The magical qualities of light passing through the shapes and layers of colors has drawn me to fused glass. My work is both functional and decorative. It includes vases, bowls, platters, and ornaments in varying shapes and sizes. I am drawn to bright, vibrant colors. The most common comment I hear about my work is that piece makes me smile. That makes me smile!

Self taught watercolor and acrylics painter and photographer. I specialize in abstract florals and area landscapes.

I am a retired logger, born and raised in Southwest Virginia. I'm inspired by the traditional way of living in the Appalachian mountains. I enjoy making dough bowls and other wooden products that are not only nice to look at, but can also be used in every day life. I have always had an interest in the old timey ways and enjoy putting my traditional handtools to work. I am pleased to be a juried member of RTM, Southern Highland Craft Guild and Black Horse Artisans.
